Online Income 101

“If I don’t have any money to begin with, how can I make
money from online programs. I can’t afford to join many
of them and I can’t buy upgrades or referrals” .

I hear this all the time from people that are trying to get started making money
online and it is a very real problem. I have developed this guide to help people
in this situation to get started. Much of this will be very helpful to everyone and
hopefully we can help each other with our success. Please feel free to leave
your tips and comments in the comment section of this page.

How do I get started?

I would recommend that people that are new to online income programs start
with the following basic strategy.

Develop your personal strategy / mindset for your online
activity.

First of all, if you are looking to get rich quick, have your computer make you
thousands while you sleep or make thousands of dollars with little or no work
then I cannot help you. In my opinion, no one will be able to really help you with
that strategy. On the other hand if you are looking to put in a little work and earn
some extra income that you can build into a source of financial stability then I
can help you. Earning an income on the internet is not difficult and it is
attainable by anyone who is willing to invest some time and effort.

The most important thing for you to decide is what you are willing to do. I think
that you must be willing to invest at least two hour per day, five days a week to
your online effort. This is a bare minimum and you will get much better results
if you can invest more to it when you start out. If you can make this commitment
and stick to it for at least six months, you will be able to achieve success. If you
are unwilling or unable to make this small commitment then the chances of
your success are not going to be great.

Create a few free and basic tools that you will need

There are a couple of tools that I would highly recommend before you get
started on your PTC/PTR programs. The first thing that I would recommend is
a web browser with good pop up blocking capabilities. Many of the programs
that you will out with have a lot of pop ups and without this you will have little
web pages all over the place. My favorite browser is Mozilla Firefox. This is one
of the most popular web browsers out there, it has excellent pop up blocking,
tabbed browsing, and it is absolutely free. You can download it below.

I would also recommend that you have up to date virus protection and spy-ware
protection on your computer. This will help prevent any nasty surprises out
there for your computer. There are a few good ones out there for free but I
would recommend AVG for virus protection and the Yahoo toolbar for spy-ware.

Another important thing is that you set up separate e-mail accounts for your
PTCs/PTRs. You will receive e-mails from them and it is much easier to have
them going to a separate inbox other than your personal one. You may even
want to set up multiple e-mail accounts to better organize your efforts. There
are many free e-mail servers out there that allow for multiple e-mail accounts
but I would currently recommend Google’s g-mail which you can get for free
here. Another place to get multiple e-mail accounts is at MyBestMail which you

One of the most important things that you will probably need is an Alertpay
account and E-gold. Most programs pay you by Pay-pal, Alertpay or E-gold. All
three of the programs are free. Alertpay is the most common pay program for
them and I really suggest that you get it. It is similar to Paypal and I have had
good experiences with them. Most programs will ask for your Alertpay e-mail
address for payment when you sign up. You should create your free account
here. E-Gold is not quite as common but it is used by some programs and
since it is free I would sign up for it.

Develop a group of basic free PTC/PTR Programs

The easiest and most understandable type of programs to get started with are
the paid to click (PTC) and the paid to read (PTR) programs. Basically, these
programs will pay you to click on advertiser links (PTC) and view an ad webpage
or they will pay you to read an e-mail from an advertiser (PTR). You will not get a
can accumulate this quickly by working with several of these programs. They
will also offer you some experience in developing a referral system to generate
members that you refer plus a percentage of the earnings of members they
refer in many programs. These programs are free for the basic service and you
can get paid even if you do not generate any referrals.

If worked correctly, these programs can provide a steady monthly income for
you. The classic example for this is:

You click on 20 PTC links in a day at $0.01 per click = $0.20 in earnings
You have 20 referrals that click the same links = $4.00
Total earnings per day for that program = $4.20
You repeat this with 10 PTC/PTR programs = $42.00 per day
Approximately $1,260.00 per month
Approximately $15,120.00 per year

This is an example only and many of the programs do not have 20 clicks per day
but if you are working 15 good programs you will easily have 100 to 200 clicks
per day available between them. To make any real money with these programs
you are going to have to work 15 - 20 good programs a day. That may sound
time consuming, but I am able to do this every day in about an hour while
listening to the radio.

The real trick as I mentioned above is to have multiple PTC programs going at
the same time. I think the minimum number to have going at a time is 10.
There are several reasons for this. First of all, you will have 10 streams of
income to maximize your earnings. Secondly, Internet programs are notorious
for going out of business. If one of your 10 programs disappears, you have not
lost everything and you can just replace it and keep on going. Utilize sites like
this one to keep up to date with which programs are paying and which ones are
not. I give a strategy to maximize your earnings with these programs below.

You are able to work several of these programs at the same time by opening
them up in the tabs of your internet browser (see Firefox browser above). Most
ads that you view will have a timer on them so you can open several of them at
the same time. Take a look at the advertised website to see if it interests you
and go on to the next. Once the timer runs down you will have your credit and
you can move onto the next ad. Remember to take a quick look at the ads as
people are paying to show these ads to you and the least you can do is give it a
quick check. I usually am browsing ads on four of the PTC sites at the same
time in. This number allows me to multi task the timers but still be able to
check the ad quickly and keep track of what is going on. By working them in this
way you will find that you finish up very quickly.

I highly encourage people to develop a group of these services. There is no
start up cost and it will do wonders for developing your online income stream.
These programs will become your springboard as you continue to develop your
online income.

Develop a Group of free advertising programs

The first thing that you need to address is what exactly are you advertising.
Each of the PTC / PTR programs provide you with what is called a referral link.
For example, my referral link for the Hits4Pay program is:

When someone signs up to join a PTC / PTR program through your referral link
they are then considered to have referred by you. In the PTC / PTR programs,
you then earn additional income based on their earnings. In general, the more
referrals you have the more income you earn. If you do not know how to find
your referral link for a program, check out the review of the particular program
on the PTC/PTR Review page. Post a question if you do not see the info there I
will get back to you on how to find it.
As you develop your online programs, one thing becomes very clear. In order to
create a significant stream of income, you need to be able to create referrals to
your programs. This can turn $10 a month in income into $1,000 dollars a
month in income. Referrals are not difficult to generate and they should not be
something that you get worried about. A little effort and persistence are all that
you need.

A good form of advertising for your programs is completely free. These are the
traffic exchange programs. In these programs, people are sent to your
websites (referral pages) in exchange for you viewing the pages from other
users. Most of the people viewing the traffic exchanges are people like you who
programs. I think that it is extremely important that you have a presence in the
traffic exchange programs to get your information out there.
The format for most traffic exchanges is very simple. Once you sign up, you
need to list your websites with them. These would be the referral pages that
you want visitors to go to and sign-up. Traffic exchanges will allow you to
advertise anywhere between one and an unlimited number of websites so pick
your top programs to advertise on the ones that limit your number and list as
many as you can.
Once your websites are listed, you can begin surfing for credits. Each one of
the traffic exchanges has a link for your surfbar. Some you have to log in first in
order to surf and others have a personalized URL for your surfbar. You should
bookmark the address to get to your surfbar so that you can start your surfing
quickly each time you sit down for some surfing. Once the surfbar starts, there
will be a timer that runs down before you can receive credit. Once the timer
runs down to zero you have to complete some sort of action like matching a
picture or number to move on to the next advertisement. This is an anti-cheat
feature to prevent people from using programs to automatically surf the traffic
exchanges.
Personally, I open about five traffic exchanges at one time in the tabs of my
browser. This allows me to check out each page that I am surfing while being
able to maximize my time. It is only right to look at each page as these are
other members trying to accomplish the same thing that you are by showing
their pages. Another important reason to look at each page is that many of the
traffic exchanges put in anti-cheat pages that require you to perform some
additional task before moving on to the next page. These are usually well
marked by the traffic exchange with something to the effect of "Stop, Anti-cheat
feature please match the image before continuing to next page." Failure to
complete these anti-cheat tests multiple times will result in your account being
terminated. Do not worry though, if you really are taking a quick look at each
page you will not miss these test pages and you will usually receive bonus
credits for completing the task. While surfing, you will find that some of the
sites will grab your attention. This is o.k., that is just showing that the traffic
exchanges work. But do not let this interfere with your surfing. What you should
do is bookmark the page to come back and check it out when you are done with
your surfing time (for Firefox right click on the site you want to bookmark, select
this frame, then bookmark this frame. This way you can stay focused on the
task at hand but not miss out on anything that interests you.
An important thing to look at when choosing traffic exchanges is the exchange
ratio. This is how many websites you have to view in order to send one visitor
to one of your websites. This can vary from 3:1 (you must view three pages to
send one visitor to your website) to 1:1 (you view one, you get one visitor).
There are a lot of other factors other than ratios when considering websites but
this is an important one. The other thing to consider is the anti-cheat features.
If the site does not have some anti-cheat features, you can be assured that the
site is being auto surfed so even if it has a great ratio, nobody or very few will
actually be seeing your webpage.

One thing that I want you to know about traffic exchange surfing is that it is the
cheapest form of advertising not the most effective. You will need to send
thousands of visitors to your webpages to get a handful of sign-ups. Traffic
large advertising budget to start out with and you can get started with them by
beginning of this page that you need to be able to make a commitment of time
to developing this and stick to it. Like many other things, you can surf a whole
week and not get a single sign-up and then get 10 the next week. Develop your
plan and stick to it and the rest will work out.

Traffic exchanges provide you with referral pages just like the PTCs / PTRs do.
When you get referrals to the traffic exchanges, you earn a percentage of
credits from what they surf. It is important to advertise these referral pages on
other traffic exchanges to boost up your advertising credits. This may sound
like you are doing a lot but once you enter in all the referral pages that you want
to advertise once then all you have to do is surf away.

The most important form of free advertising when you are getting started is
interaction in your personal life. First of all, tell your family and friends about
what you are doing. Many people are embarrassed to do this for some reason
but you should not be. Let them know about it, you would be surprised to find
out how many people would like to make some extra income from home. Many
of the programs will allow your spouse or another member of your household
join as long as they use a separate computer with a separate e-mail account
(Please check each program for their rules on this as some will kick you out for
doing this while others have no problem with it).

A great tool to help you advertise your referral pages are rotator programs.
What a rotator program does is let you promote multiple referral pages through
on web address. This comes in very handy for the traffic exchanges that only
allow you to advertise a few websites. For example, one rotator I use is
PageSwirl with a rotator address of:

Click on this link a couple of times and you will see that it takes you to several
different referral pages. You can use these rotators to let your advertise several
programs through one link on traffic exchanges or other methods. You can

Another advertising method is not free but you can use your existing resources
to utilize it. By this point you should be tied into a very effective advertising
network. This would be the PTC and PTR programs that you are already
working with. Many of these programs allow you to reinvest some of your
earnings into advertising with them. Some of them have some form of free
advertising tied in with their upgrade programs as well. Your use of this
advertising will depend on your budget and program earnings but it can be very
effective. The people using the PTCs and PTRs are obviously interested in this
type of program and may be interested in your programs as well.

To recap what I believe is your best strategy to get started:

Get the essentials - These are all free
1. Get a good browser like Firefox.
2. Get good spyware protection like Yahoo Toolbar.
3. Get good virus protection like AVG.
4. Get a couple of extra e-mail accounts.
5. Sign-up for the payment programs of pay-pal, E-gold, and Alertpay.

Sign-up for a group of 15-20 paid to click / paid to read programs.

Develop a regular schedule to work these programs. An example of my
schedule is to daily:

Morning
Check e-mail - approximately 1/2 hour
Work all PTC/PTR programs completing all clicks - approximately 1 hour
Work group one of five traffic exchanges - approximately 1 hour
Work group two of five traffic exchanges - approximately 1 hour

Afternoon / evening
Check e-mail - approximately 15 minutes
Work group one of five traffic exchanges - approximately 1 hour
Work group two of five traffic exchanges - approximately 1 hour

This is a little less than six hours a day and you can adjust it to meet your
needs. As you have more success online you can use some of your earnings
to purchase advertising and reduce your surf time, but when you start out the
more time that you can work on developing free advertising the better you will
do.

Develop your own Website to promote your Programs

The next step to enhance your online earnings is to create your own website.
You can use your own website to promote all of your online ventures in the
manner that you feel is best. You can create an informative website to help
people get started with your programs.
Your website will let you drive traffic to a single page from which you can
advertise all of your online programs. This is referred to as a capture page. My

From this capture page, you can then have links to all of the other information
that you want to share with people. You can tailor your website for your own
style of business. With your own website, you do have to design your own web
pages which some people may find scary but most hosting companies offer
web design programs which make this very easy to do.
There are some free web hosting companies out there but I do not believe that
they provide the level of service that you will need. My favorite web hosting
service that I have used is Yahoo Web Hosting. Yahoo provides good service
with plenty of backbone for your website for around $10 a month. Yahoo has a
site builder program that makes it real quick and easy to set up your website.

When you sign up for a web hosting service you will need to find a domain
name that is available. The domain name is your address on the world wide
web. My domain is KLVentures. The web hosting service will help you
determine the availability of domains and assist you in securing one.
Having your own website will probably cost you about $10 a month. I
recommend that you get a website as soon as you can but it is not essential as
you begin. But once you have got a few programs under your belt and you are
starting to really get going it will become essential. Get comfortable with the
ideas outlined in the sections above and you will be ready to get your own
website. This will greatly enhance all of your income opportunities.

Develop a group of Low Cost Income Programs

You can really boost your income through the use of low cost income
programs. I believe that you should have a good base through the PTCs/PTRs,
traffic exchanges and web hosting before moving into this area. These
programs offer any number of goods and services through the internet. Most of
them rely very heavily on the recruitment of referrals to build up an income
stream. If you can do this, you will develop a incredible income stream with the
right program.
Most of these programs require monthly fees or upgrade costs to generate
income. I try to emphasize programs that have very low costs with the offering
you huge earnings with little or no effort are almost certainly going to disappoint
you. But, with your experience from the previous steps, you can generate
significant income with these programs simply by using the skills and
networks that you obtained earlier.
The key to these programs is to advertise, advertise and advertise. Remain
truthful about the benefits and expectations that people can have with the
programs and you will draw and retain referrals. Help your referrals to succeed
and you will succeed as well. With a strong downline, you can reap great

Advanced Advertising

You can spend a lot of money on advertising so it is important that you are
comfortable with all of the previous steps before moving into this area. By
having experience with your programs, you will be able to determine what is a
good investment and return on your advertising.
One major category of advertising in search engine marketing. You are probably
familiar with search engines like Yahoo and Google. When a user types in a
search on one of these search engines, they will get results that include
sponsored results on the top and side of the page. These links on the top and
side of the page are advertising that you can purchase. When you sign up for
one of these services, you can bid to have your results show up on the results
page of searches with keywords that you specify. When someone clicks on your
link on the results page, you are charged an amount equal to your bid on the
keyword you specified. You are only charged when people click on your link.
This can be very effective as you can find a whole new member base but you
need to be careful as the charges can add up very quickly.
The two major providers of this service are Google Adwords and Yahoo
Sponsored Search. They are very effective but can be expensive. Another
alternative is 123 Clicks which is a lot less expensive but the quality of hits can
be a little lower. You can check out all three of them below.

This guide continues to be a work in progress and updates will be

My basic strategy to maximize my profits from PTC programs is as follows (I
am using the top ten programs from my PTC review page in this example):

1. Make sure you have all of the tools to work online securely. Have up to date
virus protection, a good browser and spyware protection. Info on all of this can
be found on the online 101 page.

2. Join at least 10 good paid to click programs. Reviews of these can be
found on the PTC Review page.

3. Click all ads daily on your PTC programs.

4. Join a minimum of 5 traffic exchanges (traffic exchange reviews) to promote
your PTC programs. Try to surf at least 50 pages per day. See Online 101 for
more info on traffic exchanges.

5. Promote your PTC programs to friends and family. No need to be pushy
just let them know what you are doing. Some will ask you questions and
others will have no interest.

6. Choose one PTC program to be your main focus. My current
recommendation is to use NeoBux for this purpose due to their instant payout
and referral rental policies.

7. As soon as you have an adequate balance in NeoBux ($3.00) rent 10
referrals and you will begin to earn from them as well.

8. Utilize the paid to join sections of programs like InboxDollars and
MatrixMails to jump start your earnings. You can often earn $20 to $50 from
the paid to join section but it will take a few weeks to get paid. When you get
paid, re-invest this into your main program NeoBux (I know this is hard but it is
worth it).

9. Continue to rent more referrals from NeoBux as you have the money
available in your account. Funnel any payouts you earn from the other paid to
click programs back into NeoBux.

10. Once you reach the point of 500 active referrals (combination of ones you
personally referred and the ones that you have rented). Save up the money in
your NeoBux account to buy the golden membership (this will double your
earnings at this point).

11. Save up to $85 in your NeoBux account and cash out this amount. Utilize
the $85 to buy premium membership and 50 referrals in IceBux. With IceBux
now, save up $50 then cash out. Utilize money to purchase 50 more referrals.
Save up $50 and cash out to keep for yourself. Continue to repeat cycle and
increase amounts as necessary.

12. Save up $20 in NeoBux and utilize to rent 100 more referrals.

13. Save up $120 for upgrade and referrals for Isabelmarco. Utilize this
money like you did for IceBux in step 11.

14. Save up $20 in NeoBux and utilize to rent 100 more referrals.

15. Continue to repeat with all of your PTC programs.

16. Check with review sites like this one to make sure all of your PTC
programs are still paying. If one goes under or stops paying just replace it
with another.

17. Following this strategy will take about six months to develop a decent
income stream. Early and maximized utilization of steps 4, 5 and 8 will
increase the speed of developing this income stream.

As I said this is not easy but it does work. It can be done from home, at any
